Impact of nature-based solutions (NBS) on urban surface temperatures and land cover using remote sensing and machine learning (in Remote Sensing Applications: Society and Environment).
The authors analyzed Guimarães, Portugal over a decade (2013–2023) to see how NBS help reduce urban heat. Using satellite data and machine learning, the authors also project land cover and land surface temperature to 2028, giving planners practical scenarios to guide green actions in the coming years.
This study brings together remote sensing, ML, and local-scale analysis to inform sustainable urban planning and climate mitigation.

A new paper is out! 🎉
Impact of nature-based solutions (NBS) on urban surface temperatures and land cover using remote sensing and machine learning (in Remote Sensing Applications: Society and Environment).
The authors analyzed Guimarães, Portugal over a decade (2013–2023) to see how NBS help reduce urban heat. Using satellite data and machine learning, the authors also project land cover and land surface temperature to 2028, giving planners practical scenarios to guide green actions in the coming years.
This study brings together remote sensing, ML, and local-scale analysis to inform sustainable urban planning and climate mitigation.
