๐ฅ On January 24โ25, 2025, the ๐๐ฏ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ project concluded with a remarkable Closing Seminar. The event began with engaging sessions at the Departamento de Engenharia Civil - Universidade de Coimbra on the 24th, culminating in a fire drill at the village of Ribeira da Misarela, Coimbra, on the 25th.
๐ฅ ๐๐ฏ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ focused on characterizing territories, assessing evacuation risks, predicting individual behaviours, and studying emergency plans such as evacuation, sheltering in place, or community refuges.
๐ฅ By raising awareness, ๐๐ฏ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ aimed to enhance community resilience against wildfires.

โน๏ธCEN/TC 250/SC 3/WG 8 โ๐๐ท๐ฐ๐ญ๐ถ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ 1993-1-8 โ ๐๐ฐ๐ช๐ฏ๐ต๐ด ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ดโ has created a Task Group to prepare a new Annex to the second generation of Eurocode 3, part 1-8 (Design of Joints) that specifies the strain limits and equivalent requirements to allow for the numerical design calculation of joints in the scope of the new part 1-14 of Eurocode 3 (Design assisted by finite element analysis). More specifically, this annex will address the following issues:
- strain limits.
- material properties of bolts and welds.
- definition of model factor gamma_FE.
The adopted methodology to carry out this task includes an Open Blind Round Robin Competition of finite element numerical analysis of joint parts (e.g. bolts), components (e.g. T-stub), and joints.
โน๏ธThe objective of this Round Robin is to provide detailed validated results for the modelling of selected basic joint parts, components and joints that support the specification of the design criteria and provide a database of benchmarks for future possible assessment of the competences of FE modellers and/or software.
โน๏ธThe Open Round Robin starts on 13/1/2025, comprising several Benchmarks. Besides publishing the results in a Special Issue of a leading international scientific journal, an award will be given to the best participant for each Benchmark in an international scientific event throughout 2025 and 2026.
