โ On 4-5 November 2024, the meeting with the members CEN/TC250/SC3/WG8 for EN1993-1-8 and ECCS/TC10 took place at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Coimbra, in a hybrid format.
โ It was a two-day fruitful discussion about the evolution of the next generation of EN1993-1-8 related to the design of Steel Connections.
โ The ISISE researcher's prof. Luรญs Simรตes da Silva, prof. Aldina Santiago, Dr. Ana Francisca Santos and Dr. Filip Ljubinkovic attended the meeting as well as some of the PhD students with research works focused on the performance of steel joints.

The researcher Dr David Andrade, coordinator of the ISISE-DAD Cluster, participated in the Third Workshop of the High Performance Steel Structures Research Council (HPSSRC Workshop III), held in Beijing from October 9-12, 2024.
Dr. Andrade delivered a keynote presentation titled โ๐๐ถ๐ช๐ญ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ต๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐จ๐ต๐ฉ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐๐๐-๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ค๐ฆ๐ด๐ด๐ฆ๐ฅ 3๐ ๐๐ณ๐ช๐ฏ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ฐ๐บ๐ด,โ co-authored with Prof. Luis Simรตes da Silva, highlighting the advantages of additive manufacturing through Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), focusing on printing strategies, mechanical performance, microstructural analysis, and future standardization efforts for 3D-printed alloys.
The workshop also included technical visits to the Tsinghua University Structural Lab, the iconic National Stadium (Birdโs Nest), and Shougang Park, offering participants valuable insights into state-of-the-art engineering and architectural projects.

The first six-ton L-shaped steel beam for construction of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) in Lead, South Dakota, has been just sucessfuly assembled!
